Introduction

AdviceIndex (adviceindex.com) is a service of advice.ai (“we,” “our,” or “us”). This Privacy Policy explains what information AdviceIndex handles, what stays on your device, and what reaches our servers only when you ask it to.

Your Answers Stay on Your Device

The core of AdviceIndex (your profile answers, your topic ratings, and your scores) is processed entirely in your browser. Scoring runs on your device, and your in-progress answers are saved only in your browser’s local storage. None of it is sent to our servers as you work. You can erase everything at any time with the “Clear my data” control in the footer, or by clearing your browser’s site data.

Information You Choose to Send Us

Information leaves your browser only through three actions you take deliberately:

• Sharing your report. When you email your report, we receive the recipient addresses you enter and the report you chose to send, and we use them to deliver that email. We also keep a record of the send: your name, email address and mobile number, the advisor and date you entered, your score and grade, how complete your advice was and how many critical gaps it found, how many people you sent it to, whether anyone other than you received it, how your visit arrived at the site, the IP address the request came from, and the time you sent it. We do not keep the recipients’ addresses or the report itself.
• Requesting an advisor meeting. When you submit the request form, we receive your name, email address, and mobile number (plus your report, if you chose to attach it). We store the request and email it to our team so we can respond. The stored request also keeps your ZIP code and preferred time if you gave them, any note you wrote, which follow-ups you asked for, the advisor and date you entered, your score, grade and number of critical gaps, how your visit arrived at the site (see “Cookies” below), and the IP address the request came from.
• Verifying your mobile number. When you confirm your number by text message, the number is sent to our verification provider to deliver a one-time code. Verification status is not saved between visits.

Usage Data

We collect a small amount of anonymous usage data to understand how the site is used:

• Funnel events. A random session identifier, the step reached (for example “session started” or “results viewed”), which topic area a step relates to, which sharing option you chose, and the time the event arrived. By construction these events can never contain answers, scores, contact details, or free text, and they are never linked to advisor-meeting requests.
• Page views. On the live site we use Google Analytics for page-view statistics. No answer content, profile responses, or contact details are ever sent to it.
• Rate limiting and abuse screening. Our servers use IP addresses to limit abusive request rates. When you email a report or request a meeting, the IP address is also stored on that record, as described above. Verifying your number stores nothing.

How We Use Your Information

We use the information described above only to:

• Deliver the report emails you request
• Respond to your advisor-meeting requests
• Verify your mobile number when you ask us to
• Understand aggregate site usage and improve the service
• Protect against fraudulent or abusive activity
• Comply with legal obligations

Information Sharing and Disclosure

We do not sell your personal information, and we will never share it without your explicit permission. We may share information only in the following circumstances:

• Service Providers: With the vendors that deliver email, send verification text messages, host our database, screen submissions for automated abuse, and provide analytics, solely to perform those services on our behalf
• Legal Requirements: When required by law or to protect our rights
• Business Transfers: In connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets
• With Your Consent: When you explicitly authorize us to share your information

Data Security

We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your personal information against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction. However, no method of transmission over the Internet or electronic storage is 100% secure.

Data Retention

We retain the information you send us only for as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes outlined in this Privacy Policy, unless a longer retention period is required or permitted by law. Data kept on your own device stays there until you clear it.

You can ask us to delete what we hold about you. Email privacy@advice.ai from the address you used, and we will remove your advisor requests and share records. Anonymous usage data carries no identifier that could link it to you, so there is nothing in it to find or remove.

Cookies

AdviceIndex sets one first-party cookie of its own: if you arrive from an external link or a tagged campaign, a cookie records that source for up to 30 days, and it is read only if you later submit an advisor-meeting request. Google Analytics sets its own cookies on the live site for page-view statistics. When you email a report, request an advisor meeting, or verify your mobile number, our abuse-screening provider checks that the request came from a real browser rather than a script, which may also set cookies and read technical details of your browser and connection. It never receives your answers or your contact details. You can control cookies through your browser settings.

Our website may contain links to third-party websites. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of these external sites and encourage you to review their privacy policies.

Children's Privacy

Our services are not directed to individuals under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
